Posted: Friday, August 31, 2012

By Dexter N James

Here comes spring 2009 and there you see your mind filled with a fear of being laughed at. Thanks to your extra flab which doesn't allow you to wear dresses according to your will.

Thus your intense desire to wear the most fashionable dresses turns into vapor , all because of your flab. Oh! These bulges on your waistline... They suck!

Now forget these problems. Because here are the most flattering dresses exclusively meant for a chubby woman so she can look at her best this spring 2009.

Read out the following lines to know what are those top three dresses along with some tips and tricks to pair them with equally flattering jewelry and footwear. Thus hide your chubbiness this spring in an artistic fashion.

Colorful Belted Trench Dress : No woman's clothing is more flattering, for a chubby woman, than wearing a trench coat. But there are days when it hardly rains in spring too. So what to wear during those dry days?

Designers have brought a unique blend of trench coats and dresses. So, this spring, buy a belted trench dress to give your spring season a perfect and fashionable start. The inbuilt belts are an added advantage which cover your bulky waist nicely. The wide collars are flattering too as they cover your chest area much genuinely.

You will love to wear these cotton-made trench dresses which come in many colors, mainly suitable for spring only. Also, a belted trench dress will prove an exciting office or party wear this spring.

Buy something which comes in striking pink, dark citron, super lemon or vibrant green. Wear them with ballet flats or heels and sunglasses. Try matching metallic bangles and designer earrings.

Striped Wrap Dress : When you wrap this wrap dress around your body, there is no trace of your chubbiness anywhere. It covers you magnificently from top to bottom.

Gone are the days of mono-colored wrap dress. Now try these extremely fabulous striped wrap dresses this spring 2009. You can buy one with black and white stripes to give you a more classic look, or in order to look more trendy, you can choose stripes of "green and pink "or "yellow and blue" or whatever combination you find more suitable.

You can choose a wrap dress with full sleeves, if your arms happen to carry extra flab. Give your hair a fringe cut and wear big circular metallic earrings. They flatter a chubby face.

As a wrap dress leaves your calves open, try to wear a pair of red knee-high boots. They flatter your legs. If your legs don't carry extra flab, try glossy slingbacks. Wear a designer wrist watch and use a golden shoulder bag.

Satin Button Down Tunic : Whenever you plan to have a party during the spring phase, a button down tunic, which more or less looks like a dress shirt, made of red satin can get no competitor.

Choose a knee-length button down tunic with big buttons and full sleeves. Adding some big buttons would be extremely flattering.

Nothing could be greater than having this satin tunic with its cuffs and collars white in color. Try a cotton scarf and let your hair hang loose behind the shoulders. Use a fur packer hat with some feathers tucked into its edges.

With a knee-length button down tunic, wearing a black wide-leg trouser is a well justified fashion apparel. It will give your body a controlled look. Use a pair of mid-high heels.

Wearing ballet flats or wedges too will do wonders. Try blue spear-shaped earrings and black metallic handbags. They make admiring pairs with red satin tunics.

Flower Girl Fashion For an Adorable and Happy Flower Girl

Flower girl fashion follows the same trends you see in wedding dress fashion. As wedding dresses become more simple so do flower girl dresses and at the same time, when wedding dress fashion become more extravagant you'll find the same thing happening with flower girl fashion.

Having said that changes in their design is rarely as dramatic as that in wedding gowns and you'll find that they've always had a sweet little girl feel about them and are rarely as dramatic as the brides dress. Just think of the bride's poofy sleeves of the 1980's! Though the flower girls had pleated shoulder they were never nearly as extreme as that of the bride.

The most important thing to remember with flower girl fashion is to make sure that your little girl is comfortable and at the same time complimenting the theme of the day - including color and mood. If you're traditional she should be to... and if you're simple and modern, she should be too!

Make Sure She's Happy
If she is 4 years old, it's likely that she's mature enough to go to at least one store with you. If this is possible, it's very much recommended so that you can get a sense of what she likes and also introduce her to what it means to be a flower girl. When I had this very important job at the age of 6 I was so terrified and didn't even know it was happening until a day or two before. I really had no idea what it meant - other than the fact that tons of people would be staring at me! Even at that young age and explanation of what's happening is as important as being comfortable and feeling pretty.

Fashionable Dresses
There are two really big things you'll notice in designer flower girl dresses:

1. The tuft skirt...which I think will be going out in the next year or two
2. The colored sash, which I think will stay around for awhile since it's such a great way to make the flower girl dress match the wedding theme.

Basket Fashion
In 1980 I carried a wicker basket with dried flowers, hardly en mode for a wedding today - unless of course you're going for a retro 80's feel. Instead a simple silk basket filled with either frozen or dried rose petals is more suitable for today's modern wedding.

Color & Fashion
Traditionally, when picking the dress, the color AND fabrice was usually expected to complement the bride's dress - either white, cream or champagne and silk or satin. Extra accessories like the sash, flowers, and basket matched the bridesmaids. Today it's just as common to wear the same color and fabric dress as the bridesmaid. Both work really well and both look great. However, it's often easier to find dresses in white or pink rather than the plethora of colors available in bridesmaids' dresses.

Fashionable Hair Accessories
Cute little hair accessories have always been a big thing for flower girls, but, like everything else the look changes over time. Today, the headpiece is noticeably smaller and more "flower child" inspired that in years past. You'll also find that the dreaded baby's breath which adorned my hair when I was flower girl is no longer used in hair design or accessories.

Stylish and Comfy Flower Girl Shoes
Today, shoe options are comfortable and cute. With everything from the fabric ballerina slipper to the simple satin Mary Jane shoe, there's a style for every child.

Cost vs. Fashion
You can get wonderful dresses at any price. The only thing to make sure of it to make sure you get a comfortable, wrinkle free, and breathable fabric. An uncomfortable flower is the last thing you want on your special day! Cheap laces are itchy and some fake satins don't breath and are very sticky and uncomfortable! If cost is an issue don't get a flower girl dress, just get a pretty little dress that can be dressed up with adorable tights. You'd be surprised what you can find. eBay is also a great place to find great dresses at really wonderful prices!

Appropriate Fashion
Just make sure your young flower girl looks like a little girl. There's nothing worse than a 6 year old looking like a mom. Make sure the hairstyle and dress style is age appropriate.

Elegant vintage women's evening dresses have style that is timeless. These vintage women's nighttime dresses are very fashionable today as well. The loss of the corset was a great impetuous for fashion to take a radical change and ideas started flowing. The natural curves of a woman's body was once again the target of the couture industry, the feminine shape has become exaggerated in the models that are so thin that they are emaciated. There is an in between, the couture that realistically takes in the normal or maybe a little larger woman in their designs of women's fashion dresses. The fashion industry has produced some of the most spectacular women's night time dresses you could ever imagine. Let's take a small journey through time and investigate the women's nighttime dresses of the past that have made it back to the future.

A stylish little house dress for housework made its appearance on the fashion scene. These house dresses were also used to wear as you were getting ready to go out for the night in your beautiful evening dress that came from one of the top women's fashion dresses providers. These little dresses were also called day dresses, for the night dresses were women's night time dresses.

Women's nighttime dresses had become designed for comfort and between the day dresses, women's fashion dresses, and the business lines that were coming out for the working woman with tailored style, the variety of clothing that became available such as women's evening dresses, blouses, vests, skirts and a creation called palazzo pants, women's choices became fun and interesting and more feminine than ever in the women's fashion dresses.

In the 1930's fashion started to concentrate on shoulders and a sleeve in their designs for women's nighttime dresses. The different types of shoulders that the designers were able to come up women's night time dresses in with ranged from puffy to flat pleats that created a softer width. The creation of the butterfly sleeve added an ethereal touch to women's evening dresses and the fabric choices went from laces to fine netting that could sport some jewels and colors that would complement the women's night dresses.

A puffy sleeve that tapered down to a tighter fitting forearm on the women's evening dresses was called the leg of mutton sleeve. This style became very popular and is once again popular. The origin of this sleeve design actually comes from the women's evening dresses created back in Renaissance period, revisited in the 1930's and is used today in women's evening dresses fashion designs.

Designer Dog Dresses Are the Hottest Fashion Trend

Posted: Monday, August 13, 2012

By June Tanner

The hottest fashion trend to hit the runways is designer small dog dresses for our fashionista canine friends. Designer dog dresses are being created in diva dog haute couture for every season and every occasion. Fashion centers from all over the world have joined in on this trend by designing exquisite dog dresses made from only top quality human fabrics and trims. Designer dog dresses are especially popular with the elite of high fashion conscious dog owners.

Are these small dog designer dresses practical? Not even close! Are they an over indulgence? Of course they are! But what better fun than to over indulge you little doggie girl in the most adorable outfits that designers can imagine? Even though dressing your little dog in designer duds seems like an extravagance, there are many dog owners that will spare no expense for their pampered pups. It doesn't matter to dog owners who love their dogs, because they simply want the very best money can buy for their puppies, just as they would for their very own children.

I can't think of a better way to show off a pampered pooch than dressing her for every occasion in an exquisitely designed dog dress. It is just another way for a dog owner to enjoy the fun that comes with having their darling dog as a constant companion. Fortunately, for the fashion conscious consumer, even if you are not living in a high fashion city, you can find designer dog dresses are online.

Many dog owners these days, no longer think of their pets as pets. They think of their dogs as another child in the family, and often, the dog is the only child in the household. The fact is, many dog owners prefer the companionship of their dog over most humans. Because of this devotion to their pets, dog language and terminology is changing to accommodate these feelings in today's culture. We now have "dog spas" instead of dog groomers in the cities, and dog kennels in New York City are fast disappearing as they blossom into "dog day care centers" and "dog hotels".

It doesn't come as any big surprise to the millions of dollars being spent every year on designer small dog clothes in today's pet market. This business has become a huge success. These high fashion dresses range from the simple, yet classic designs of the "casual stroll in the park dress", to the elegance of "luxury formal dresses". Only the best, one-of-a-kind, custom made bridal gowns are also being created for the posh pooch with a high dollar tag attached. Dog bridal gowns may also be purchased online for prices that will fit any budget.

Dressing up dogs in designer dresses have become so popular, knock offs are being created in mass overseas to accommodate all of the pet store and discount store requests for dog dresses at more affordable prices. Dog dresses are created to fit all dog size ranges from the teacup size dog to the XX-large Great Dane size dog. The most popular sizes are for the small dog, however; the large dog sizes are fast beginning to catch on with increasing popularity. Don't think for a moment that this trend will be disappearing anytime soon, because it is won't. It is a growing industry that just keeps getting bigger and more popular as dog owners discover dressing their dogs in dog clothes is an accepted and fun practice.

Not only are humans becoming more and more responsive to the idea, but the dogs are too. I personally know several little dogs that adore getting dressed up for an outing. They realize when their clothes are getting changed; they are going out. They also know that along with going out for fresh air, they are going to get a massive amount of attention. Along with all the "o-o-h-s" and "a-a-h-s" is the ear scratching and head petting! When dogs wear dresses, everyone can tell they are pets who are pampered and adored.

It doesn't stop with designer dog dresses, either. Every imaginable accessory is being created to match these gorgeous dresses. For example, shoes (4 to a set), are being manufactured for every occasion and season. These shoes may be sneakers, elegant dress shoes, or winter fur lined boots, just to name a few. Coats of every color, fabric and style are tailored to accent the designer dresses. These may include raincoats, winter coats, mink coats, faux fur coats, glam and bling coats or fun trendy designer jackets. And jewelry (oh, yes, jewelry too!), is also a huge niche for the glam diva dogs.

Dressing your pampered pooch to the K-nines has never been as easy as it is right now. The dog clothing industry carries an extensive variety of dog dresses and clothes in every fashion style to suit any discerning dog owner's taste. Dog fashion accessories are available for every outfit in every style imaginable.

These high fashion dog clothes, accessories and jewelry are not often found in your local pet store and can usually only be found at an Internet store. Whether your style of clothing is high fashion designer couture or trendy Goth dog dresses, the designer dog dresses and accessories found at Diva Dog Dresses Boutique will have your small dog fashionista dressed in the latest high fashion look.

In addition to being made of the highest quality fabric, the dog dresses we have selected to showcase will fit every price range from designer, custom made dresses to the fabulous, yet reasonably priced, off the rack dog dress. Each item that we feature has been searched and hand selected in order to offer only the best from a variety of high fashion dog designer houses.

Fashion Tips for Casual Dressing

By Sheila Dicks

On what occasions do you wear casual clothes? For some it may be running errands, attending kids soccer games, parent/teacher meetings, going to the movies, the gym, watching sporting events or having lunch with friends, etc. It seems that, many women don't put as much energy into building a casual wardrobe as they do a professional wardrobe and are left with nothing to wear. Take time to build a casual wardrobe and you will always feel more put together and comfortable.

1. Choose your outfits in your best colors. Start with 3 colors that look great on you and build around those.

2. For workout clothes buy a sweat suit that suits you in color and shape. You will always look great leaving the gym and won't be too embarrassed to stop into a store to pick something up on the way home.

3. Jewelry should not be worn with a bathing suit; both perfume and jewelry should not be worn at the gym.

4. Jeans are a great casual item and look better if they are in good condition and are more slimming if they are in a darker color.

5. Women find it difficult to get jeans to fit well and often wear jeans that are not very flattering. To find the perfect jeans for your body type takes a little work, time and patience and you may have to try on a good number of pairs before you find the right fit. You can read my article on "Finding Jeans that Fit" here: http://www.sheilasfashionsense.com/jeans.htm

6. Stay away from tight fitting pants or jeans if you do no have slim thighs. A looser fit is much more slimming and flattering.

7. Match your accessories to the theme of your outfit. A casual outfit calls for casual accessories.

Plus Size Fashion - Dress With Style

Posted: Tuesday, August 7, 2012

By Andrea Dilea

Dressing up can be fun for all women, no matter what size they are. Large women who wear plus size clothes are no exception. They can dress up for a variety of occasions, including business, casual or formal ones. An excellent way to do this is to to accent a slacks, skirt or dress outfit with a color-coordinated jacket, cut to enhance a person's individual figure.

The cut of a jacket is the first thing that plus size women must consider. They should stay away from short, boxy jackets. Choosing a longer jacket that just skims the hips will give them a taller, slimmer look. It's also good to select a jacket with shoulder pads as they will add to the style of the jacket while helping to balance out the overall look.

Suits with straight lines are ideal for plus size women who have a straight "up and down" physique. For this type of figure, look for a long jacket that has sharp lapels that isn't too fitted in the waist. Plus sized women with a curvy physique will find a shorter jacket with rounded lines, curved lapel and fitted waist flattering for their body. A clinched jacket will accentuate and minimize the stomach.

When choosing a jacket, be sure that it falls in the proper spot on your body that is most flattering for you. For example, larger busted women will want to avoid jackets with pockets located on the bust line. Simple cut jackets with a tapered waist are the most flattering for this body type.

Women who are plus sized with a large bottom and small top will find that a jacket that just skims the hips will be the best looking. Stay away from jackets that end right at the hips as they will call attention to an area you are trying to hide, not emphasize.

It's important for plus size women to achieve a look of proportion. While a long jacket can make a 5'6" woman look taller, it can overpower a 4'11" woman and make her look even shorter. The following tips can help you find the right length plus size jacket for you.

When choosing the length of a jacket hem be aware that the hem should not be at the widest part of your body. As an alternative, go for longer or shorter. When you choose a longer jacket, be sure to choose a more narrow pant or skirt. Your jacket or skirt should be about two thirds of the length of your overall look. Long jackets over knee length skirts and shorther jackets over longer shirts have the most flattering effect.

Scarves are a great accessory to add a personal touch to a plus size jacket. Use a long scarf to elongate your figure. Scarves also draw attention to your face and are a fun way to add a little interest to your outfit.

Uniforms Or Casual Dressing In Schools?

Posted: Saturday, August 4, 2012

By Jack Wogan

The public school uniforms issue was launched a long time ago, in the 90's. Ever since there have been many debates on the pros and cons of wearing uniforms or adopting a more casual dressing code. Since that time, the trend to introduce uniform policies for public schools and not only has grown in popularity. However, there are many issues that make room for this concept of wearing a uniform.

Some educators say that school uniforms won't prove our children's capacity of learning or staying focused on the process of learning. But, to be true, there is no real advantage in improving the children's performance at school by enforcing them to wear these uniforms. According to some professionals, uniforms create a feeling of unity and sense of pride. This might be true if students are feeling comfortable with wearing uniforms. But when a boarding school decides that they should ask them about this. They should get the parents involved, get the students involved. Let them vote, have them pick out style in which majority rules, give the students a choice.

These professionals also say that this would be easy recognition of someone belonging to the school. Keep intruders off the school ground and keeping the attending students in plain view. Uniforms should eliminate 90% of the peer pressure among the students with need of keeping up with the latest trends which in time will save the parents some money on buying clothing. Moreover, on the one hand, the students will have no worries of being bullied for their clothing appearance, and, on the other hand, they will have less hassle in the morning trying to decide what to wear.

People promoting uniforms in schools think that this dress code sets the tone of the classroom as a serious place of learning. These uniforms could impose discipline for the students as they prove to be less distracted by the clothing that they wear.

Nevertheless, there are a lot of problems that particular dress codes arise. Uniforms take from the students freedom of self-expression and their individuality. Uniforms can be expensive and, moreover, they are expensive to replace. Not everyone looks good in the uniforms and problems could arise for the overweight students as they are not able to find the right size for them.
