Is It Necessary To Be Up to Date With Current Dress Styles?

Some people just have to have what ever is new or 'in' at the time, it does not matter if they personally like it or not they just buy what is in style. Well I guess if you are a person who just likes to follow the crowd then by all means go ahead and do that, or if you are a teenager who has to buy what everyone else is buying then it would be an absolute must. Otherwise I guess this would be up to your personal choice.

You don't always have to buy the latest dress styles out there, unless of course you like it, then you should definitely go out and buy it. Sometimes the thing that everyone else is wearing and looks good for them might not work on you and that's why it's very important to be an individual and buy what you like and what would work for you which is not necessarily the latest style out there on the market.

I mean you definitely don't want to be stuck in the past with a wardrobe made up of extremely dated fashion styled dresses, no matter that styles might recycle and come back in fashion eventually, you can't sit around and wait for that eventuality. Recently low rise jeans with a small flair at the bottom of the leg have been the fashion and while a lot of people look good in these jeans, if you have love handles they are very apparent in these jeans and so they're not for everyone despite their popularity so be aware of how the style looks on you before buying. Take a day and try things on in the stores before you buy them because things that look good on everyone else or that look good on the hangers in the stores may not suit you. And no matter how pretty that skirt is or how nice that top is if it doesn't flatter your figure, you shouldn't wear it.

Don't get me wrong, not all old fashion dresses are bad there are still some old dress styles from many years ago that still look great up to this day like simple blue jeans or button down business shirts have been around for decades and are still a perfectly acceptable outfit. But like I said you should buy what looks good on you and not anyone else. So it is good to keep up with up to date dress styles but don't throw out your old clothes.

Fashion And Style Throughout The Years

Fashion is repetitive and has a way of coming back when you least expect it. Who hasn't thought at least once that their mother did them an injustice by throwing away her wardrobe from the 70s? The fashion trends seem to always find their way back into the present and into our wardrobe.

While there are some things that can be worn just in specific times, there are some clothes that can be described as immortal like the simple black dress, the white shirt, the pearl necklace, the diamond ring and the clutch purse. In comparison with these some fashion trends that have come back so far cannot be worn indefinitely. Some of the best examples are the military outfits and the neon clothing.

There are specific clothing items that have been most popular in their decade so here are some of the most relevant examples. In the 40s the most sought after party dress was the cocktail dress. In the decades to come it was considered quite conservative but in our days most women would like to own at least one.

The 50's was characterized by the fashionable rebels. Those men that used to wear jeans, a white shirt and a leather jacket were the dream of every woman. This James Dean and Marlon Brando fashion combination is still something that we wear today.

While in the 60s the miniskirts that only had 30 cm in length appeared and both girls and boys were ecstatic about them in the 70s fashion was all about sports. Especially when the Vogue issue featured Farrah Fawcett in active sportswear.

The 80s were characterized by the power suit with big shoulder pads and very tailored jackets but in comparison with this in the 90s the grunge style was fashionable. Dressing like you just rolled out of bed is something people still do from time to time.

Fashion is something that is part of our daily life so the trends influence us whatever we do, even if we like it or not.

Dresses For Prom That Flatter Your Figure

Posted: Friday, December 14, 2012

By Ruben Licera Jr.

What is important in choosing the perfect prom dress is to see and feel that it flatters your feminine figure. Yes, comfort is essential and so as the design. But above all, the question whether the dress perfectly suits your body will eventually pop to your mind. Dresses for prom should definitely be alluring, elegant and charming for teens like you. And although a teen's body is still developing to full maturity, it should be wearing the best style that can flatter your lady figure.

The most common type of dress that can flatter any kind of body figure is the classic sweet heart neckline with a-line skirt. So whether you have the perfect hour glass body shape or even you are more rounded, this dress will suit you well. Even if you check on dresses online you can confirm that prom dresses with sweet heart neckline can emphasize your upper body and an a-line skirt provides the formal look.

Another classic chic for prom are princess cut dresses. This goes along with mini-sleeves that minimally cover the shoulder bones. Ball gowns may look too old for teens like you so it is better to feel like you are a princess with this fashionable type of dress. This can definitely flatter an hour glass or an inverted triangle body shape. Choose a smooth flowing fabric if you prefer this type of prom dress.

If your waist, hips and legs are your assets, better then choose pencil cut dress style. This kind of dress emphasizes your assets as the fabric hugs your skin and shows off your legs. This can go well with v-necklines, tubes, or spaghetti straps. Prom dresses for 2010 are so much into this type of dress so if you want to be fashionable, go for this kind of style.

One more figure-flattering dress type is the fit and flare. It is fit in the hips and flare in the legs. This is also commonly known as the mermaid style of dress. Sweet heart necklines also go perfectly with this. So if you want to walk sexy in this tight-fitting prom dress, fit and flare could be your match. This has already become trendy during the late '90s and is now good as back for 2010 prom dresses.

The most fashionable dresses for prom for this year are short ones, often called mini dress. They are often strapless, halter or with square sleeves to compliment the short skirt which is often high above the knee. If you want to flatter your long slender legs, might as well pick this kind of dress.

Lastly, one of the most searched prom dresses online is the asymmetrical type. It is either artistically lop-sided on the neckline or on the skirt. This is totally trendy this year since it goes well with printed fabrics with floral, wavy or geometric designs. So if you want to allure the whole school with a unique fashion, better then choose this type to flatter your figure.

Fashion Trends of the 70's Dress Designs

The 70's dress designs were practically innumerable. Starting from the bell bottoms to the printed blouses people would wear anything and everything they liked. The 70's dress designs were a mix of the minis the midis and the maxi style dresses. Ladies would wear bright colored blouses and would wear the minis along with them to dress up in a trendy way. To complete their fashionable dressing they would wear knee length boots with their minis and would flaunt them in a trendy way.

As far as the men were concerned they would wear the bell bottoms which were in vogue and would carry long hair which was usually curled to make it look attractive. Wearing shirts with big collars was the most in thing then and even the men would go in for floral prints for their shirts. Flared trousers and loose shirts was a fashion statement as far as the 70's dress style was concerned.

The fashion trend of the 70's dress designs was more or less based on the carefree theme of the hippies. Everyone was carefree and relaxed in their dressing style and wore different styles of clothes which would be relaxed and trendy. While the men would wear the bell bottoms and flowery shirts with broad collars, the women would wear the minis with boots of knee length. Most of the young men and women would only focus on following the hippie's trend.

The 70's dress style also included the use of a lot of accessories which included the use of bracelets, wigs and headbands etc which were used by both the men and women in their dressing. Moreover during the 70's even men used to keep long hair and big sideburns which were considered to be trendy. Most of the male movie starts and celebrities often followed the trend of keeping long hair and mostly wore the floral and trendy outfits which were in vogue those days.

Even these days when people organize theme based parties they tend to choose the 70's dress style due to its colorful and jazzy look. With shimmering clothes and disco lights the entire party actually comes alive. Men in bell bottoms and broad collared floral shirts and women in the minis with floral tops actually make the entire party very lively and entertaining. While the 70's dress style is very much appreciated for theme parties, people often get confused about attending a party which has the 70's dress style as the theme. Since the 70's dress style involved a gamut of dresses that one could choose from people find it difficult to decide what to wear for their 70's theme party.

Those of you who haven't had the opportunity to look through some of your old family photographs should ideally watch the movie "grease" or the music shows that were done by the "Bee Gees". This would give you a clear picture of 70's dress style which was followed at that time.

Why Did a Techie Hack Fashion?

By Dexter N James

Being a human, it is pretty normal to look for fashionable stuffs to see one's personality getting groomed. Indeed, it's everyone's birth right to get dressed according to his/her wishes. Be it a sports person, a cine star or even a techie. Yes..even a techie.

So far, we had been witnessing many professionals from IT field buying nicely optimized dresses with many inbuilt pockets to keep their gadgets safely. But what would you say if a stalwart of silicon valley himself jumps straight down to the corridor of fashion world, not to buy but to sell?

Rob Meadows, who preferred fashion designing to his mobile software company, himself gives the answer. He says, "I didn't want to jump from one 20-hour technology day to another and of course there's the parties, the beautiful women, the fun parts of it as well."

Needless to say, he sold his multi-million mobile software company, in 2006, and started designing his fashion dress line. Apart from getting footholds at some small boutiques, he has an exclusively designed fashion apparel for Nordstrom.

It is widely known that the fashion field gives a very "slow" profitable result, and even it takes long to turn into a bulky one. Then, it seems far from a wise move to dump a profitable business like software development for fashion.

Definitely, Rob is not here to earn money only. Rather, he is here to add some tasty spices in his life. And probably, he seems to restore his "I-love-to-get-socially-involved" habit.

Finally, we should be assured enough, whatever complex steps he would take to design dresses, his dresses would be as user friendly as his softwares had been.

How to Avoid Ending Up With Dreaded Bridesmaid Dresses

Posted: Wednesday, December 5, 2012

By Brea Moray

When one is singled out as a bridesmaid, the nightmare begins. Bridesmaids have to buy the bridesmaid dresses they'll have to wear only once and on duress. Thankfully, this is going out of style and bridesmaids are getting to enjoy their fashionable dresses without spending a dime.

The Dreaded Dresses are Passe

Ask the sorority of ex-bridesmaids about their experiences with their bridesmaid dresses, and you'll have an earful of embarrassing stories of having to wear dresses colorful as Easter eggs, or dresses that revealed their wide rears, broad shoulders, and flabby arms.

The dreaded dresses were usually look-alike ensembles of unmentionable colors and prints. The point was bridesmaids were extensions of the wedding theme and therefore, their dresses had to be identical in cut, color, and design; hence, having different shapes for each of the bridesmaid was unheard of. The bridesmaid could not complain, even if they had to pay for the bridesmaid dresses or monstrosities they would never wear again, much less think about.

But the dreaded dresses are on the way out. Brides are realizing the folly of coercing their bridesmaids to spend for dresses they never want to see again. Luckily for everybody, designers have come up with fashionable bridal outfits and have incorporated new trends, unusual but lovely colors, color coordinates, and the combination of elegant fabrics.

Going out of style are the bridesmaid dresses with wallpaper patterns, gothic colors, shiny and shimmering fabrics that accentuated body flaws, and those oh so puffy sleeves and other quaint artifacts of another age that sent young women to murderous rages.

Shopping For Bridesmaid Dresses

Brides are surprised that shopping for the dresses for the girls can be as critical as buying the bridal gown. Shopping for the dresses can be fun yet exhausting, so before you set out, make a checklist of the details and make sure that everybody's choices are clearly specified.

These tips will help you avoid ending up with unsuitable dresses:

* Together with your friends, check out the latest wedding fashion magazines.

* You can choose the color and length of the dress, but let them choose the style.

* Have all the girls fit the gowns before making an order and let them choose the dresses.

* Check out the fabrics and the design of the dresses, especially if these come with big discounts.

* Before making a final order, make sure that all measurements are accurate.

* If gowns are to be rented, personally check each piece of clothing for any stains or defect prior to delivery, so there won't be any arguments or misunderstandings later on.

To gauge how well you've done with the bridesmaid dresses, answer this question honestly - would you like to wear the dress again? If you've answered yes, you've selected an outfit they'll be proud to wear anywhere.

Your bridesmaids will feel the same way if you've given them the flexibility to choose a color, cut, or style that would balance their figures and complexion and emphasize their individuality.

Friends First and Bridesmaids Next

Friends will go to lengths to please you, so go the extra mile to choose the bridesmaid dresses that wouldn't put your friendships to the test. Your friends will be there for you and jump through hoops to make your wedding a memorable one.

How to Choose Hot Dresses Online to Match Your Style

Posted: Sunday, December 2, 2012

By Chris Robertson

One thing many ladies love about shopping online is the wide variety of dresses that are available. If you live in an area where there aren't many places to shop, then online shopping might be your ticket to finding hot new dresses that fit your style - and your body type.

Many online shoppers have abandoned the garage sales and turned to convenient Internet shopping to find great deals on dresses, lingerie, evening wear and more! You too can find almost any dress style, size, color and material online, and usually at a tremendous discount.

Instead of searching desperately through endless racks of clothes that aren't even your size, you can find specific dress styles and sizes with the simple click of a mouse! But first, you must know how to shop online. Here are some excellent pointers to finding that perfect dress with the style and price you want.

Find Dresses through Online Searches

If you already know what type of dress you want, you can narrow your search through the search engines by typing in specific keywords related to that dress style. For instance, if you want a large trapeze-style brown strapless dress, don't only type the words "brown dress" into a search engine. You'll get millions of results showing all types of brown dresses. Instead, type the entire phrase in quotes to get more specific results. If you want a small red stretch gown, type in the entire phrase in quotes.

Another way to do specific searches is to shop at an online mall for dresses and other ladies fashion items. Many "dress-shop" malls offer a variety of products including dresses, plus size fashions, lingerie, watches, shirts and skirts, underwear and thongs, Capri pants, denim wear, evening wear and more. Some malls even give tremendous deals and have special offers such as a "free panty with a dress purchase" or some other similar discount special.

Ordering the Right Dress - The First Time!

One problem that an online shopper faces when searching for great dresses is that, once dress arrives, she finds that it doesn't fit right. Then, it's a hassle to ship it back to the company or manufacturer if returns are accepted.

One solution is to take a few hours and visit the nearest department store in your area. Try on some dresses to find styles and sizes you like. Take note of the materials, sleeves, measurements, and sizes of the dresses as well. Even if the dress is high-priced at the store, you might be able to find the exact same style online at a much cheaper price. Doing this will save you time and money in the long run because you'll know if you like the dress and style before ordering.

Gifts for the Holidays or Special Occasions

Another advantage of shopping online for dresses and other hot fashion items is you can also buy gifts for others at a great discount. Holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, thank you gifts, etc. - there are gifts for every occasion. And, you'll save time and money because you can shop from your own home any time of the day!

Using online resources to buy hot and fashionable dresses offers a great opportunity to find the styles and sizes you need without spending a fortune.
