Some Tips for a School Fashion Show

Posted: Monday, August 1, 2011

School fashion shows can be quite fun if done properly.
1) Think of a theme – When putting up a school fashion show, it is always helpful if you use a theme. A theme gives a fashion show a sense of organization and people would be able to relate the fashion to the theme.
a) Season – Basing your school fashion show on the season is always popular. Basing your school fashion show on a season can help you unleash your creativity and make your brain cells work.
b) Literature – Another great idea for a theme is literature. You should think about basing your school fashion show on a great piece of literature. Ever tried creating fashion pieces for Frodo? Basing your school fashion show on a piece of literature can also be a bit easier than other themes since most authors actually have pretty detailed descriptions of the clothes their character wear.

2) Music – The music sets the mood for the whole fashion show. It strikes the subconscious of the watchers and thus, determines how much attention they will be paying your school fashion show. This means, of course, that you need to choose the correct sounds to accompany your school fashion show. You need to choose music that grabs the attention of the spectators enough to mesmerize them. However, you do not want the music to distract the spectators from the school fashion show. The best type of music to use would be instrumental.

3) Lighting – Proper lighting effects are always essential if you want to have a great school fashion show.

4) Spontaneity – Students hate predictability. Because of this, the best thing that your school fashion show could have is a surprise. If you can make the audience forget about the gadgets on their pockets, then you would know that your school fashion show rocks!

A. Plus Size Fashion Shows and Events to Get You Into the Industry
While not marketed as plus size events, approximately half of the attendees at such events tote designer labels in plus sizes. Fashion committee heads generally cast a number of plus size models for the events-which doesn't hurt in encouraging higher auction bids.

How to Enter the World Professional Plus Size Fashion Shows and Events
Shopping center fashion shows serve as one way to gain entry into the plus size modeling sector. Most shopping centers host two major plus size fashion shows and events annually, one showcasing back to school fashions, the other featuring the mall's holiday fashion show. Aspiring plus size models can secure a spot in the next big fashion show at their local mall by attending a shopping center fashion show and venturing backstage to speak with the show coordinator.

Locally-owned and operated department stores have long been cited as a solid way to enter the world of plus size fashion shows and events. Models can speak to establishment managers and inquire about opportunities in plus size fashion.

This type of plus size fashion work is called informal modeling, and it often serves an entry way to inclusion in plus size fashion shows and events on a larger professional scale.
Showroom modeling is characterized by a strong demand for plus size fashionistas. Plus size showroom modeling is similar to informal modeling, however, showcase modeling is completed for the benefit of fashion buyers as opposed to mainstream consumers.

B. Organize Your Closet - Spring Fashion Show
Spring is a good time to treat yourself to a fashion show.
To begin, ask yourself whether you still have clothes you wore 20 years ago?
Eliminate Extra Sizes:
What about keeping several size ranges of clothes because you're going to lose weight to fit into them again? The larger sizes, especially, are temptation.

Prime Real Estate:
A closet is prime real estate in your home. Don't waste it by storing clothing that you don't wear.
1. Remove everything from your closet and try on each item with the accessories you wear with it.
3. If the outfit doesn't fit, if you don't like the colour any more, if the colour doesn't like you any more, or if it doesn't suit your lifestyle, put it aside.
4. If the item needs fixing or cleaning, put it aside to have that done.
5. If it looks great on you, you feel wonderful in it and it's ready to wear, hang it back in your closet.

What remains will be ready to wear.

Party Time:
Once you've removed all the items from your closet that you don't intend to wear again, invite your friends over with their cast-offs. Host a fashion show, or a closet party with the items in your donation bag and theirs.

The evening's agenda could go something like this:
1. Try on each other's clothes, accessories, etc to fill in the gaps in your wardrobe.
2. Throw conservatism aside to benefit from your friends' talents for colour and accessory combination if they're different from yours. Remember, your goal is to clear out once, not several times dealing with the same clothes.

Is it worth having a closet crammed with items that are never worn?

In Future:
To help with next season's purge. Turn all the hangers the opposite way on the closet rod. After you've tried on or worn an outfit, hang it back the normal way. Being organized about your closet means having your clothes clean, in good repair and ready to wear, without needing ironing when they come out of the closet. It's a time saver too, knowing that everything is ready to wear whenever you need it. Wishing you organization, in your closet and in your life!
